EXEPHORA: Journal of Qur’anic Exegesis is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that provides a dedicated platform for the study of the Qur’an through the twin perspectives of philosophy and language.

Focus and Scope

Exephora advances scholarly dialogue by integrating philosophical reasoning and linguistic analysis in the study of Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir). The journal welcomes original research that explores, but is not limited to:

• Philosophical approaches: hermeneutics, ontology, epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and philosophy of religion in relation to Qur’anic interpretation.
• Linguistic approaches: semiotics, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, rhetoric, stylistics, and discourse analysis of the Qur’an.
• Interdisciplinary perspectives that connect philosophy and linguistics with Islamic exegetical traditions, both classical and modern.
• Comparative studies that critically engage with interpretative traditions across diverse cultures and intellectual contexts.

By highlighting the synergy of philosophy and language, Exephora seeks to broaden contemporary understandings of the Qur’an while honoring the depth of classical tafsir traditions.

Open Access Policy

Exephora is fully open access. All published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication. Authors retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction with proper attribution.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review, ensuring impartial evaluation and adherence to the highest academic standards. The editorial board consists of international scholars specializing in Qur’anic studies, philosophy, linguistics, and related disciplines.

Publication Frequency

Exephora is published biannually (May and November). In addition, special thematic issues may be released to address emerging topics or focused areas of scholarly debate.

Archiving Policy

Exephora participates in the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS archival systems to guarantee long-term digital preservation and accessibility of its published content.

Sponsorship Disclosure

Exephora is a non-profit academic journal. Any financial support, institutional partnership, or external sponsorship will be clearly disclosed to maintain transparency and integrity.
